Updated: 3 days ago

From 8 July, ADEA is introducing key improvements to make the CDE recredentialling process simpler, clearer, and more secure without compromising compliance.

What’s changing and how it will improve your experience

  • No more uploading CPD documents during recredentialling: You are no longer required to upload CPD activities and documents as part of your recredentialling application. This change is designed to reduce administrative burden for members and create a more efficient, user-friendly experience, while maintaining the integrity of the CDE program.

  • A declaration will replace document uploads: Instead of uploading individual certificates and categorising activities, you will be required to declare that you have completed at least 20 CPD points per year across the relevant categories. This brings us in line with many other health professions and AHPRA requirements. It is a simpler, more intuitive approach that focuses on trust, professionalism and accountability, with compliance supported through audit.

  • New process for your primary discipline registration or accreditation: You will now upload your current primary discipline registration/accreditation. This ensures our process remains consistent with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Protecting your privacy: New privacy laws require us to avoid storing documents we do not need. The new process will help protect your personal information and reduce privacy risks, while still meeting our compliance and quality standards.

These changes are designed to improve member satisfaction, reduce confusion and system issues, and make recredentialling a smoother and clearer experience.

Frequently asked questions

What’s staying the same?

You still need to meet the existing recredentialling requirements:

  • You must hold a current Bronze ADEA membership.

  • Maintain your registration/accreditation in your primary discipline.

  • Complete at least 20 CPD points per year across the relevant categories.

  • Submit your goals and reflective outcomes.

  • Adhere to ADEA’s professional standards and frameworks.

Will these changes affect my CDE standards or professional standing?

No. The standards for maintaining your CDE status and your professional standing remain the same. These changes are only about making the recredentialling process simpler and clearer, as well as making it easier to confirm compliance.

We will continue to carry out audits of 10 per cent of members each year. Like other health organisations, we may audit members at any time to confirm CPD compliance. Our audit rate of 10 per cent is higher than the 5 per cent audits used by some other health professions. It is important to keep your CPD records and supporting documents in case you are selected.

What happens if I’m audited?

If you are selected for audit, you will be asked to provide supporting documentation for your CPD activities and the completed CPD Template provided in the pathway. We recommend retaining your certificates and records for at least two years, just in case.

What happens to my CPD activities I’ve already uploaded in the recredentialling pathway?

Your existing CPD records remain available in your Learning Centre under the ‘Completed’ section of the LMS. You can continue to use this feature for your own tracking and records, but these uploads will no longer be used as part of the recredentialling review process. Keeping your CPD records safe and accessible supports transparency and ensures you can easily show your professional development if you are selected for an audit.

When will these changes take effect?

These changes go live on Tuesday 8 July 2025. They will apply to all recredentialling applications submitted after this date.
