The People of ADEA

"Meet Jeff Fan, part of the ADEA 'Meet the People' series.
Jeffrey Fan, Marketing and Communications Officer

Hey! My current title is Marketing and Communications Officer, and I’m part of the Policy, Advocacy and Communications team, with a focus on Marketing. I work across budget, content, campaigns and data. Typically, I’m juggling Google Analytics and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), and writing content — especially since our recent ICT transformation. A significant focus at the moment is on analysing and optimising search visibility that doesn’t incur costs. What I enjoy most about working in marketing and communications at a member-based organisation like ADEA is the sense of purpose. We’re making it easier for CDEs and health professionals to grow, connect and be recognised. My work helps connect with and support ADEA’s members by creating visibility that drives connection — and with the right intent, it amplifies impact. For example, we run mini-campaigns to boost our search rankings and make use of our top keyword positions on Google. Through this work, we help more people find CDEs, access support, and understand the value of diabetes education. One of the highlights of my time here has been boosting the visibility of the “Find a CDE” page. Between 2023 and 2024, we saw two of our biggest spikes in Google click-throughs. Last year, we also achieved top five Google rankings for over 50 high-value search terms, plus an additional 200+ keywords and search phrases relevant to ADEA and CDEs. It’s only been a few short years, but it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the national impact of our work and to know that I’ve played even a small part in that. Outside of work, I attend a casual boxing class to stay active — and since I’m in Melbourne, having an indoor, quiet hobby is essential. You’ll often find me digging through record crates or just enjoying a good listen.

Natasha Veech, Manager of Professional Services and Education

In this role, I oversee the Member Services and Education teams, as well as events and partnerships. A typical day is a mix of strategic planning, supporting team members, managing partnerships, reviewing sponsorship opportunities and coordinating events like state conferences and workshops. I also work closely with the team on our ICT project to ensure our new systems meet the needs of members. What I enjoy most about working in professional services and education within a member-based organisation like ADEA is knowing our work directly supports the professional growth of members. It’s rewarding to know that what we do helps health professionals stay up to date, feel confident and deliver high-quality care. Being part of a passionate and committed team gives real purpose to what we do every day. My work ensures members have access to high-quality, evidence-based professional development opportunities, whether through workshops, online learning, conferences or new microcredentials. It’s also about creating stronger engagement with members, listening to their needs and ensuring our programs are relevant and responsive. One of my highlights has been leading the planning and delivery of state conferences and introducing new state-based workshops. These events have created more accessible, locally relevant education for members. I’ve also really enjoyed being involved in the Australasian Diabetes Congress (ADC), which brings the national diabetes community together and showcases the best of what we do in education and professional development. I’ve learnt the value of adaptability and being solution-focused, especially as our organisation evolves. It’s been rewarding to work on projects that require collaboration across teams, and I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how strategic thinking and strong member engagement can create real impact. Outside of work, I’m usually spending time with my son or watching sport, especially football and cricket. I’m also a regular at the gym and like to start my mornings with weightlifting or an RPM cycling session. When I get the chance, I love to travel to tropical destinations, there’s nothing better than escaping the cold and soaking up some sun.
