ADEA is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Ashley Ng as Head of Education and Professional Standards, a key leadership role introduced to strengthen the organisation's innovative education and member support.

Dr Ng is already well known within the ADEA community, having collaborated with the organisation over recent months as a consultant supporting key education projects.

She has also served as Co-Chair of ADEA's Research Advisory Group and is a longstanding contributor to the Australasian Diabetes Congress (ADC) Program Organising Committee.

Dr Ng holds a PhD in nursing from Deakin University and is an Accredited Practising Dietitian.

She is also a research fellow at the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation, Monash University, bringing extensive clinical expertise and academic leadership to ADEA.

She has led national and international initiatives in diabetes education and has been recognised with multiple awards for teaching excellence, research impact, and community leadership.

In her new role, Dr Ng will lead ADEA's Education Team and oversee the development and delivery of the organisation’s education portfolio, ensuring it remains innovative, evidence-based and responsive to the evolving needs of members, industry, and people living with diabetes.

"I am excited to officially join ADEA in this capacity and look forward to working closely with our members and stakeholders to strengthen education pathways and uphold excellence in professional standards," Dr Ng said.

ADEA CEO Melanie Morris said Dr Ng "brings exceptional expertise and a forward-looking vision to ADEA".

"Her leadership will be instrumental as we expand our education offerings, better supporting our members to provide the highest quality diabetes education and care to people living with diabetes," Ms Morris said.

The appointment comes as part of ADEA's recent organisational redesign, which divides the former Education and Member Services portfolio into two, allowing the organisation to better meet the evolving needs of diabetes educators.

With Dr Ng leading Education and Professional Standards, Natasha Veech continues in a key leadership role as Head of Member Services and Partnerships, focusing on member engagement and collaboration with partners.

"The ADEA organisational redesign creates clearer portfolios and reporting lines to enable stronger collaboration and improved coordination," Ms Morris said.

"These changes strengthen our capacity to deliver high-quality, evidence-based education, helping members continue to provide optimal care to their clients."

ADEA warmly welcomes Dr Ng to this permanent leadership position, starting 20 October, and looks forward to the continued growth and innovation her appointment will bring.
