The ADEA offers various memberships that you can take advantage of, depending on your area of interest and career stage. Please note, all applications are subject to the approval of the ADEA Board.

Full Membership

Eligibility

Full ADEA members are healthcare professionals who dedicate significant time to providing diabetes education and management.

You must have completed a GRADUATE CERTIFICATE in Diabetes Education and Management to be a full member. If you have not completed the Graduate Certificate, you are able to join as an Associate Member.

Benefits

Membership cost

The full ADEA membership cost is $448.00 incl GST (membership fee of $318.00 and a one-off joining fee of $130.00). The annual renewal fee for full ADEA members is $318.00 incl GST.

Associate Membership

Eligibility

Associate ADEA members are healthcare professionals practising in specialty fields other than diabetes education and management or in the generalist care setting, and those with an interest in diabetes education.

The associate ADEA membership cost is $327.00 incl GST (membership fee of $197.00 and a one-off joining fee of $130.00). The annual renewal fee is $197.00 incl GST.

ADEA Fellowship

Members eligible to apply for ADEA Fellowship must have:

Ongoing recognition as a fellow of ADEA is dependent on continuing CDE status.

Membership cost

The annual Fellowship membership fee is $326.00 incl GST (membership fee of $300.00 and an annual administration fee of $26).

To apply for recognition as a Fellow, please complete the Application Form (Word – 0.30MB).

Student Membership

Eligibility

The student membership is open to anyone who is enrolled in a health-related degree. This is a great opportunity for students to experience the ADEA community and its benefits while working towards a career in the health sector.

Student members have the option to upgrade their membership, and will need to upgrade to apply for initial credentialling.

Benefits

An ADEA student membership has the same benefits as an ADEA associate membership.

Membership cost

The annual student membership is available for the special rate of $132 incl GST for 12 months. This special rate is a savings of $195 as compared to signing up for associate membership ($197 membership fee + $130 one-off fee).

The ADEA encourages retired members to stay in touch with the ADEA and their network. Members who want to take advantage of this membership must:

Eligibility

Members eligible to apply for ADEA Fellowship must have:

  • Continued CDE status for 15 or more years
  • Full-time work in diabetes for the five years preceding the fellowship application
  • Endorsement of two CDEs in practice for at least five years, and who have known the applicant for at least five years to verify their work in diabetes care.

  • Recognition of expertise in diabetes leadership, education and management
  • Certificate of recognition
  • Post nominal (FADEA)
  • Opportunity to present at ADEA conferences.
