About ADEA

The Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) serves as the national peak body for diabetes education, management, and care in Australia, having been established in 1981. Our members include Credentialled Diabetes Educators (CDE®) and dedicated healthcare professionals who are committed to delivering evidence-based diabetes education. This support empowers individuals living with or at risk of diabetes to effectively manage their health and wellbeing.

As the regulatory body for CDE® certification, ADEA ensures that CDEs receive rigorous training and possess expert knowledge in diabetes education. We advocate for best practices in diabetes care through the development of standards, research initiatives, and by providing valuable resources and professional development opportunities for healthcare professionals.

What is a CDE?

A Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) is a health professional with specialist knowledge and expertise in the field of diabetes education. CDEs help people living with diabetes as well as people who have been diagnosed with prediabetes. They also support carers and guardians of people living with diabetes. CDEs complement General Practitioners (GPs) to provide specialised holistic expertise in diabetes care and management, which is vital for educating people to successfully self-manage their diabetes.

Our Find a CDE tool consists a list of Credentialled Diabetes Educators who have agreed to have their contact details made available to the general public. It is not a full list of all Credentialled Diabetes Educator services throughout Australia - there may be services such as hospitals, community health centres etc that may not be listed here. Please speak with your GP, local council, Primary Health Network etc about services in your area.
