ADEA and unified partners champion urgent need to boost diabetes research funding

Leaders from ADEA and its unified partners have attended Parliament House to champion the Diabetes Research Changes Lives campaign for emergency research funding.

ADEA President Amanda Bartlett and Vice President Ann Bush and their leadership colleagues from Diabetes Australia and the Australian Diabetes Society met with several MPs and senators on 28 February to push for a $10m investment.

The call for $10m forms part of ADEA and its unified partners’ pre-budget submission, asking for the amount to be invested in 10 diabetes research laboratories.

The shared funding would immediately give much-needed funding to keep critical research moving forward to improve the lives of people living with diabetes.

Launched on World Diabetes Day 2023, the campaign includes a petition, which has more than 500 signatures, and an avenue to donate to diabetes research.
