Mentoring program

The ADEA Mentoring Program supports members who are working to achieve ADEA CDE status and to support CDEs transitioning to new roles in diabetes education.

An ADEA mentoring partnership for the initial credentialling program is a formal professional relationship between a CDE (mentor) and an applicant (mentee) to promote learning and development and to help the applicant through the credentialling process.

The mentoring partnership is a reciprocal relationship between both parties, with each partner bringing knowledge and skills that can be used to enhance the CDE role.

*Please note that the initial credentialling application must be submitted within 12 months of the close of your mentoring partnership.

Online Mentoring E-learning Module for Mentee

The Online Mentoring E-learning Modules are designed to encourage positive engagement between mentors and mentees to ensure successful mentoring partnerships. All candidates applying for initial credentialing must complete the mentee E-learning module.

In special circumstances, the ADEA National Office or Branch Office Bearers can help source a mentor, but please note that this mentor must then register with the mentoring program by completing and lodging the online mentor registration form.

At completion of a mentoring partnership, all online mentoring activities must be completed by the mentee and verified by the mentor. For initial credentialling applications, all appropriate forms must be uploaded to the online credentialling system. These forms can also be uploaded to recredentialling applications as proof of mentoring participation.

We invite all of our CDEs to become mentors. Mentoring is a rewarding experience that allows you to share your knowledge and skills to upcoming CDEs. Our mentors often report that they learn just as much as their mentee in a reciprocal, knowledge-sharing, and non-judgmental partnership. It is also an opportunity to expand your professional networks.
