Member Benefits
Becoming an ADEA member means joining a community dedicated to a shared mission: to empower people with the knowledge and tools they need to live well with diabetes.
Many ADEA members are Credentialled Diabetes Educators (CDEs), who are recognised specialists in diabetes education. While many health professionals provide diabetes education as part of their role, a CDE has met ADEA’s national credentialling requirements and demonstrated specialised experience in diabetes education and care. CDEs support people living with diabetes to manage their condition, make informed decisions and improve their quality of life.
Credentialled Diabetes Educators are recognised by the Australian Government and various private health providers, demonstrating their trusted status within the healthcare system. This recognition allows for Medicare and Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) rebates, making your services more accessible to a wider range of clients. Once credentialled, you will also be eligible to be listed on ADEA's "Find a CDE" registry, a widely used tool for the public to find qualified diabetes educators in their area, which can help grow your practice and increase your visibility.

ADEA is the peak body for diabetes education in Australia and the regulatory authority for Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE®) certification. As an ADEA member, you are part of a profession led by evidence, supported by peers and actively represented by ADEA in national policy conversations.

Eligibility to become a CDE
Bronze members have access to the credentialling pathway to becoming a Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE).
Bronze (full) ADEA members are healthcare professionals who dedicate significant time to providing diabetes education and management.
You must have completed a GRADUATE CERTIFICATE in Diabetes Education and Management to be a Bronze member. If you have not completed the Graduate Certificate, you are able to join as an Associate Member.
Types of Memberships
Student
The ADEA Student Membership is open to anyone enrolled in a health-related degree. This opportunity allows students to engage with our community while pursuing a healthcare career. Members enjoy access to educational resources and networking opportunities, with the option to upgrade for initial credentialling when ready.
Cost: $139 for 12 months.
Associate
The ADEA Associate Membership is for healthcare professionals practicing in fields outside diabetes education, as well as those in general care settings interested in diabetes. This membership offers valuable networking opportunities and discounts on ADEA events and publications.
Cost: $344 (membership fee of $207.00 and a one-off joining fee of $137.00). The annual renewal fee is $207.00 incl GST.
Bronze
The ADEA Bronze Membership offers access to a comprehensive range of educational resources and the credentialling pathway to becoming a Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE). Members also benefit from discounts on conference registrations and educational materials, enhancing their professional development in diabetes education.
Cost: $471(membership fee of $334.00 and a one-off joining fee of $137.00).
The annual renewal fee for full ADEA members is $334.00 incl GST.
