ADEA Diabetes Education Research Journal Club: Qualitative methods

Curious about how stories and experiences can shape better diabetes care? Join the ADEA research journal club on 6 May for a session exploring qualitative research in diabetes education and practice.

  • Jaze Wang will share findings from his study on clinician experiences with Queensland Health’s integrated electronic medical record (ieMR) system. Through focus groups at Logan Endocrine and Diabetes Services, he explores how the ieMR affects communication, workload and staff wellbeing.
  • Dr Leanne Mullan will discuss how qualitative research can enhance diabetes education by uncovering the beliefs, lived experiences, and challenges faced by individuals managing diabetes. Her presentation will show how these insights can strengthen client-centred education and support.

ADEA NSW/ACT State Conference 2025

29–30 May 2025 | Canberra

Join us in the nation’s capital for the ADEA NSW/ACT State Conference 2025—a two-day, in-person event designed to equip you with practical tools, deep insight, and real-world strategies for diabetes care across the lifespan.

This year’s conference kicks off with a practical skills workshop at 2pm–6pm on Thursday 29 May, followed by a full-day program on Friday 30 May featuring expert presentations and peer connection.

The conference program on Friday 30 May covers timely topics across paediatrics, primary care, aged care, outreach and more, including:

Australasian Diabetes Congress 2025

We are delighted to host the Australasian Diabetes Congress at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, August 20–22, 2025. The content will once again be exceptional. The program organising committees of both societies have collaboratively developed an integrated program that will cover the latest breakthroughs in research, education and clinical care in diabetes. We have engaged outstanding speakers with whom you will be able to network to exchange opinions and discuss how to best care for the person living with diabetes. We are excited to provide you with opportunities to see old colleagues, meet new ones and connect again with our industry partners in the exhibition hall.
