Endorsement of education events for Continuing Professional Development points
The ADEA endorsement of education programs for continuing professional development (CPD) points for CDEs was introduced to recognise appropriate conferences, workshops, seminars, short online courses, videos, case studies, webinars and podcasts conducted by external training providers or companies.
Submitting an application for endorsement
The below documents will assist training providers and/or companies in the application process for endorsement:
Application Form Endorsement (which outlines the process involved and fee structure for endorsement, as well as the costs of hosting on the LMS)
The endorsement Review Process
Once an application is received by ADEA it is sent to two members of our independent multidisciplinary Endorsement Committee. All endorsed Continuing Professional development activities must:
- Reflect evidence based best practice diabetes education and care
- Have learning outcomes in accordance with the National Core Competencies for Credentialled Diabetes Educators
- Meet a standard of professional development expected for activities undertaken by CDEs
Successful applications are allocated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points that can be claimed for when applying for initial recognition or re-credentialling as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE).
Other ADEA services available to external organisations to support Continuing Professional Development
In addition to the endorsement process ADEA is now offering training providers or companies the opportunity to house their endorsed programs, especially online courses, on our Learning Management System (LMS). These resources could be targeting ADEA members, but also other health professionals to improve their knowledge of diabetes management.
The benefits of providing e-learning courses/workshops/webinars through the ADEA LMS include:
- Greater access to a wider range of participants
- Access to the allied health sector with an interest in diabetes care
