The National Association of Diabetes Centres (NADC) develops training packages and courses for health care professionals as one of its strategies to improve the standard of care available to Australians with diabetes.
National Diabetes Foot Screening Project
Learning Outcomes
This training package aims to provide nurses with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform a basic foot assessment as part of the screening required for an annual cycle of care and the referral process to specialist diabetes centres and services.
Format
This training package is in CD format and comes in a presentation folder with Facilitators Guide available to print. All the training materials are contained in a PowerPoint presentation. Diabetes Management in the General Care Setting; A National Training Program for Nurses and Allied Health Professional
Learning outcomes
This course aims to provide nurses and health care professionals employed in a generalist care setting or within other specialty health care fields with the knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence to provide diabetes information which reflects best practice diabetes treatment, management and care. The course consists of nine (9) modules covering a broad range of topics such as introduction to diabetes, lifestyle, medicines, complications and management in general practice.
Face - to - format
This course must be coordinated and/or facilitated by a Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE), is available in a CD format and comes in a presentation folder with a facilitators guide ready to print. Delivery by Registered Training Organisations
This course has been nationally accredited by the Australian Capital Territory Accreditation and Registration Council and attracts a Statement of Attainment equivalent to an Australian Quality Training Framework Certificate III when delivered through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The course must be coordinated by a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and NADC member centres often partner with RTOs to facilitate the course.
The necessary information to support an application will be forwarded to RTO’s following informing the NADC in writing of their intention to conduct the course including advice about of the Credentialled Diabetes Educator and/or any organisation with whom they will be partnering to deliver the course.
