Ambulatory Insulin Initiation for Type 2 Diabetes

Ambulatory Insulin Initiation and Stabilisation for Type 2 Diabetes – (to view, click on blue wording) Web Presentations
This project is being undertaken by the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) and is supported by an unrestricted education grant from Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk and sanofi-aventis.
The following web presentations are now available as part of a wider project exploring current issues in ambulatory insulin initiation for people with type 2 diabetes. The presentations are being promoted to a wide audience of health professionals in order to increase awareness of issues involved in ambulatory insulin stabilisation and stimulate discussion on possible strategies to promote access to safe and effective insulin initiation and stabilisation for people with type 2 diabetes.
The project will culminate in a Round Table discussion between representatives from key stakeholder groups to be held in Canberra on Tuesday 1 July 2008.   If you have been advised of these presentations through a professional organisation you may like to provide comment to the nominated representative who will be attending the Round Table.
Call for Expressions of Interest from Credentialled Diabetes Educators to Participate in a Round Table discussion - Closing Date: 30 May 2008.
The project will culminate in a Round Table discussion between representatives from key stakeholder groups to be held in Canberra on Tuesday 1 July 2008.   In addition to key stakeholder representatives, five Credentialled Diabetes Educators will be chosen to participate. Selected CDEs will be representative of the practice settings in which CDEs work – NADC centre, private practice, general practice and community. Air travel and accommodation, where required, will be paid for by ADEA. For more information click on relevant item in Breaking News.
To date in this project, surveys ascertaining the current practice of and issues facing diabetes educators and practice nurses have been conducted via the websites of the ADEA and Australian Practice Nurses Association (APNA). The results of these surveys are being collated and a report will be posted on the ADEA website and provided to APNA. The results will also be included in a briefing paper being prepared for attendees at the Round Table.
